About Us

Bishops Lee Petersen, Lana Schramm, Gwendolyn Hord and MagdaLynda Donnet joined together in 2003 to create the Universal Order of the Rose, a non-profit healing order devoted to the care and adoption of children in need. Their primary call is to adopt, care for and educate abused or neglected children. Their mission is to guarantee a haven where children may live safe from danger and harm, and be ministered to spiritually, emotionally, and physically. They provide temporal and spiritual education, and in general, conduct all such activities as befits a spiritual organization and healing center. They also dedicate their time to help and assist the sick and elderly in their community.

Lee Petersen attended the University of Houston as well as several other Public and Private institutes of Higher Education. He worked in both the field of business and politics until his entrance into the Orthodox Old Catholic Seminary of St. Basil & St. Gregory.  His primary studies were in Sacred Theology both Parochial & Mystical. Fr. Lee became a Monk of the Community of Companions of St. Francis and was Ordained to the Sacred Priesthood in 1992. He was elected Father General of the Order in 1993 and blessed as a Mitered Abbot the following year. He was Consecrated Bishop Aug. 20, 1998. Currently, Fr. Lee serves as Bishop of The Universal Apostolic Church and as Bishop Protector for the Order of the Friends of Jesus and The Universal Order of The Rose.  Fr. Lee retains the simple titles of Reverend and Father to remind himself as well as others that we are called to serve and that All Glory belongs to God the All in All.

Fr. Lee moved his ministry to the Dallas area in 1997. He began to search for training in healing modalities. In 1998, he attended a Reiki training session where he met Lana Schramm.

Lana was one of ten children born to a Baptist Minister, who was also a musician, and his musician wife. Not surprisingly, the couple raised their children to be musicians. Lana grew up singing Southern Gospel Music professionally all around the country. Even as a child she knew there was a special job that God had for her. As an adult with children of her own, she became very interested in different religions. After the deaths of several friends and very close family members including her son and her father, she began to search for her spiritual truth. Lana was drawn to energy work. She became aware of the need for healing not only physically but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Again, she began to search for the knowledge that would allow her to reach out to help others. After meeting Fr. Lee Peterson, together they studied different modalities of healing, including Sound, Light, and Reiki. They worked very well together, and found that their interests were the same on many levels. She and Fr. Lee searched to understand and become Masters of many healing modalities that are based on Divine Energy.  The two of them were introduced to MagdaLynda Donnet at a local spiritual gathering. The three of them bonded instantly, and MagdaLynda and Lana began an intensive study with Father Lee that led to their exploration of many new healing modalities and ultimately culminated in a calling to the Sacred Ministry for both women. Lana and MagdaLynda studied theology with Fr. Lee, with Lana’s focus on the healing orders.

She continued her studies in the classical tradition of the Minor Orders and was Ordained as a Priest in 1998 by Fr. Lee. On August 13th, 2000, Rev. Lana was Consecrated Bishop.

MagdaLynda Donnet has been a spiritual "inquisitive" most of her life. She grew up in the Disciples of Christ faith family, where she was blessed with the encouragement to read and explore all avenues of spiritual expression. While she has had many occupations and holds many certifications and titles in this lifetime, MagdaLynda has found the most satisfaction in her dedication to spiritual teaching and guidance while assisting others to obtain optimum health and experience higher states of consciousness. Her 14 years as a Registered Nurse Healer working in all areas of nursing including addiction/recovery, alternative health, and hospice have given her a unique appreciation of the body/mind/spirit connection throughout the life cycle. MagdaLynda is a Reiki and Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher and has been doing energy work on a daily basis since her first class in 1994 which inspired her to spend five years traveling nationally as a licensed teacher with The International Center for Reiki Training.

MagdaLynda began her journey into the clergy in 1998 after making a life changing move into the Dallas, Texas area where she met Lana and Fr. Lee. She was ordained as Priest on June 11, 1999.  On May 31, 2003 MagdaLynda was Consecrated Bishop and Abbess.

In June of 2000, Gwendolyn was a participant in a Reiki training class taught by Rev. Lana. During the class, it became apparent to both Lana and Gwendolyn that they were very connected, and their interests followed the same spiritual path. They shared many common goals, including the desire to adopt and mentor abused children.

Gwendolyn Hord is the eldest of two children. She attended MLU majoring in Special Education and minored in English. Before the age of five, she had several spiritual experiences with angels and spirit. Family friends took an interest in her spiritual guidance and Catholic education. At an early age, she heard God’s calling to join the spiritual life. Her parents requested that she postpone joining the Catholic Church until she was eighteen. Gwendolyn became a member of the Catholic faith April 1973.  During her mother’s transition to spirit in 1983, Gwendolyn felt and saw the presence of the Holy Spirit as her mother took her final breath. This experience has led her to seek and gain more knowledge concerning her spiritual journey. Gwendolyn studied extensively under Fr. Lana and Fr. Lee. She was Ordained as priest in December 2001. Gwendolyn’s search to further her spiritual vocation which allowed her to help others, led her to be Consecrated a Bishop on May 31, 2003.

Such was the beginning of the beautiful religious organization now called "The Universal Order of the Rose."  The four Bishops were drawn together by similar spiritual and ethical values. We understood that each of us can do just a little, but together we can give so much more to those who are in need.
